Hello All,
I am a descendant of Lemuel McCoy who married first, Marium Louisa Kelly, and secondly, Ruth Haynes. I have been told that Lemuel McCoy is buried in a McCoy Family Cemetery located on Stover Fork, off of Route 33. I have tried several times to locate this cemetery, but no luck. Can anyone tell me if they know of a McCoy Family Cemetery on Stover Fork, and if so, the directions on how to get to this cemetery?
Thanks so much.

Yes, there is a McCoy cemetery on Stover Fork. It is located 1 mile from RT 33. That is all the directions that I have. Lemuel is buried there as well as Ruth. I have been working on cemeteries for the Roane Co. Historical Society and this was the directions that were given me by the people who read the cemetery.

Thank you so much, Judy. I'll search for this cemetery again. Is the Roane County Historical Society planning to publish a book on cemeteries located in Roane County?

The Roane Co. Historical has published four cemetery books. All of our publications are listed on our website.

I am also a descendent of Lemuel and Ruth Hayns McCoy, they being my great grandparents. I have researched both families, and have been to the McCoy Cemetery on Stover Fork Road. My mom took me there several years ago, so I would know. It's a mile in on the right from Rt. 33. There is a red brick ranch house that sits back not far from the road, and you can go up through their property. It's fairly steep, but not impossible to climb. My mom did and she was in her upper 70's at the time. If I remember there are a couple of fences to go through and a pasture to walk through. It's in the midst of a bunch of trees, with a fence surrounding it. It's been taken fairly good care of, or at least when I was there. I have a layout with all those buried there and photo's somewhere. Some are neighbors that were buried there. If I remember, there are about 50+ people buried there. Lemuel's first wife, Marium is also buried there. You can reach me by email if you need any further info.
