I was going through my notes that I have on my great great great grandparents, Levi PICKERELL, Jr. and his wife Mariah RADER. I have been unable to find their death records. I've found all the other documents except for their marriage (destroyed?), but cannot find their deaths. I know where they are supposed to be buried (Good Hope Cemetery, Cain Run, Reedy District, Roane Co., WV) but I went to the cemetery before and all I found were plaques that the funeral home put up when they died. In fact I think that it was when Mariah died and not Levi since I didn't see a date of death for Levi on the paper that was inside the plaque. It was also very damaged by time and bearly readable. I looked for the funeral home but it is not in existance anymore and no one knows where the records are or if they are still in existance.

Mariah RADER was b. 13 Oct 1815 (funeral home plaque) in WV, in what is now that same area but at that time was in Mason Co., VA, she m. 1. Macklin WALKER, 18 Jul 1833 in Jackson Co., VA (document) Macklin Walker died about 1844 in Jackson Co., VA (estate listing). Macklin was buried in Rader cemetery in Jackson Co., WV (do not know exact location of cemetery). After Macklin's death, Mariah (RADER) Walker married again to Levi PICKERELL, Jr., 21 Sep 1848 in Wirt Co., VA (Wes Cochran book). According to the funeral plaque that I found in Good Hope Cemetery, Roane Co., WV, she died 03 Oct 1875. Levi PICKERELL, Jr., her second husband was b. 10 Dec 1822 (plaque) and was listed in 1880 Roane Co., WV census with his son Andrew Jackson PICKERELL (gr-gr-grandfather) and his 1st wife, Susan Elizabeth SIMS. However he is not in any of the children's households in 1900 and thus I think that Levi must have died between 1880 and 1900. His death date was not on the cemetery plaque from the funeral home.

My problem is this...
I have looked in surrounding counties (ie. Roane Co., WV; Jackson Co., WV; Wirt Co., WV; and Wood Co., WV) and cannot find either Levi PICKERELL, Jr.'s or Mariah (RADER) PICKERELL's death record. I also cannot find Susan Elizabeth (SIMS) PICKERELL (their daughter-in-law)'s death record who died abt. Jul 1897.

Any Ideas on where else I can look for these death records? I thought that I might find proof of Mariah's parentage on her death record or something that would prove definately what everything secondary that I have found on her points to which is Joseph RADER. Joseph RADER was a soldier in War of 1812 (sending for his info from national archives, not received yet), and the Michael RADER (Rev. War). The relationship between Joseph and his father Michael has been proven by Michael RADER's War pension and his will which lists Joseph as a son and Joseph's death record which lists Michael as his father. But Joseph died in 1880 which was after Mariah's death so she wouldn't be in a will (which I can't find either for Joseph). I thought of obituaries, and even wrote to the library in Roane Co., WV but they didn't know anything about the cemetery but that most of Joseph RADER's kids were supposed to be buried there in unmarked graves. They didn't mention anything to me about any newspapers that might have had obits for that time period and they didn't point towards who had the records for the cemetery. I'm at a loss. Can you think of anything else that I could look into that would help?

I hope someone can think of something else to look through to find this. Anything at this point would be a help.
