I am researching my HARPER/HOPKINS roots. Some of the names and the counties I have associated with them are: Henderson HARPER married Debora WESTFALL in Jackson Co., 7-10-1849. Their children were John Luther, Rachel, William Perry, and Malinda. Some born in Jackson Co. and later in Roane Co.
John Luther HARPER married Melissa Jane HOPKINS in Roane Co., 9-14-1869. Their children were Mary Malinda, Jacob Milton, John Marshall, Virgil L, Robert Henderson, Alda, Lelia, Eliza, Martha E., and Emma.
Eliza HARPER RYERSON is my grandmother. She had a child by a REED while in Spencer, Roane Co. That is a line I am also researching .... Any help is greatly appreciated

ANDERSON, CARPER, SYPHERT posted by Josephine Henry on Wednesday, December 29, 1999

I am researching CARPER - ANDERSON genealogy. My great grandmother was Mary CARPER, b 1885. Her mother was Nancy CARPER, b. 1827-1828 in Frederick Co. Winchester , VA. I cannot find a father for Mary. I am assuming that Nancy wasn't married. Nancy's father was Philip CARPER b. 1788 married Polly SYPHERT. Mary married George ANDERSON b. 1828. In the 1870 Frederick Co. census George was living in the household of Nancy CARPER. Then in the 1880 Jefferson Co. Charles Town census George and Mary were living there with one child. I am trying to find out when they died and where they are buried. These two have been a real mystery to me for 2 years. There is a George buried at Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town. The date of birth matches that of my George but cannot establish family connection .... Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
