ARGABRITE, WARD posted by Susan DeHart on Saturday, February 15, 1997

Henry Wheeler WARD died Feb.19, 1920 in Roane County, Spencer,of heart trouble perhaps. Thank you for your help. I do not understand why the newspapers will not look this up since I have a date for them, but they will not, all requests for genealogy sent to them is sent to the historical society. He was born 1/12/1877 in Spencer, wife was Rosa Alice ARGABRITE, daughters-Alma, Ophelia, Grace and Jessie. Hope someone will help. Folks, I would like your help with the above obituary, Henry Wheeler Ward, 2/19/1920 please. I have just received word that the Archives in Charleston, WV does not have his obituary. They said to contact the Roane County Reporter and Spencer Times-Record. My dilemma is this. I have tried these papers in the past and they are not intersted in looking up this information no mattter that they have direct access to it. The Roane County Historical Society only found a death record not the obit in the library records. Does anyone know of someone in that who might be willing to go to the newspapers for me and get a copy of this? It would mean a great deal to me!!! I would pay for copying, postage and handling, etc gladly. I have no other ideas on how to get this information if it exists as I do not live in the area. Your help and advise is appreciated. Perhaps there is another avenue of research but I do not know of it, please advise as I want to learn where to look fo information.

BURDETTE, CAMPELL, SEAMAN posted by Rhonda Cable on Saturday, February 15, 1997

: I am researching ancestors that lived for a lengthy time in Roane and Jackson Counties. The names and dates of interest are: David W. SEAMAN b: 1830 in Va. married Nancy ---------- b: 1831 Children: Margaret J. b: January 1854 , B. (Brazelous) Hoyt b: October 29, 1854 in Ripley, Roane Co., WV married July 1, 1880 in Murraysville WV., Nancy Lavinia BURDETTE b: June 27, 1862 in Wood Co., WV., d: January 19, 1924 in Murraysville. B. Hoyt SEAMAN and Nancy BURDETTE are my great-great parents. According to what records I have recieved, mainly from a family Bible, the SEAMAN's and BURDETTE's lived in and around WV for several generations, it is my belief that they immigrated here from Scotland (Nancy BURDETTE's father Ellihu [ b: April 7, 1825 d: September 13, 1885] is believed to have come from Scotland and her mother Nancy CAMPELL [ b: August 8, 1827 , married: July 10, 1846 d: March 11, 1914 in WV] may have been born in England. Other children of David and Nancy are: Mary Jane or Martha b: April 1856 John B. b: October 1857 Powhatan b: July 1860 . I am very interested in finding information on this individual Mary F. b: September 1862 Orila b: July 1862 }It is speculated that these two are twins Flora A. b: July 1864 Because many of the above were born, lived, and died in WV I am hoping that there may be some bits of information or even "stories" of them floating around. Much of my information came from a family Bible but I would like to acquire accurate records. If you can provide any information or the names of some who maybe more helpful I will be forever grateful. Thank you.
